GreenGuard Gold Certification. But what is GreenGuard Gold Certified, and what
does it mean to have received this certification?
The GreenGuard Gold Certification from the UL organization means that a
product has been tested to ensure that the volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
that it emits do not exceed a certain level. That level is lower than the
designated maximum for regular VOC certification. If testing proves that a
product does not exceed that lower GreenGuard maximum set by UL, it receives
the GreenGuard Gold Certification.
Why does this matter? When VOCs are at levels that are too high, they
can pollute indoor air, and are believed to be potentially hazardous to
children in particular. Thus, the lower the VOC levels in your home, the
better.
